Menards Track Lighting

Powder field may resurface in the Sprint Cup

The 2008 NASCAR Racing Sprint Cup season was dominated by a small circle of teams that have advanced their entire programs artfully over the last four or five years. Most NASCAR fans will agree in the Roush Fenway Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing is at the zenith of the sport when it comes to performance in Track and achievements. Check out the list of driver for each of the aforesaid equipment. Roush Fenway Racing has a mix of personalities with talent in Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, David Ragan and Jamie McMurray. Hendrick Motorsports has perhaps the most star-studded lineup in the history of NASCAR Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Mark Martin. Richard Childress Racing trio has perhaps the most consistent drivers Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer. Added the former Hendrick Motorsports driver Casey Mears to its list of driver for the 2009 season. Joe Gibbs Racing has the youthful vigor of Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and rookie Joey Logano, with their ages ranging from 18 to 28. Logano replaces two-time champion Tony Stewart. In 2006, the four teams of eight of the ten drivers in the Chase for the championship. In 2007, ten of the twelve slots occupied in the fight for the championship in ten races. In 2008, the entire Chase for the championship field and equipment was one of the 'big four'. Clearly it is not surprising that other equipment may tremble at the thought of having to compete with these monsters. However, there are some teams out there with drivers and staff capable of giving a big four run for their money.

Ganassi Racing Earnhardt: Dale Earnhardt, Inc. and Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates were separate entities before the merger in November 2008. Remember that the Coors Light Dodge battling the Budweiser Chevrolet in the early 2000's? Now they are a single operation, the combination its resources with the intention of competing at a higher level. Earnhardt Ganassi Racing has its share of critics, but having two talented drivers with solid sponsors. Martin Truex Jr. qualified for the Chase for the Championship in 2007 after winning his first race at Dover. Truex Jr quickly became a popular driver outdoorsmen with his relaxed attitude. Juan Pablo Montoya is one of the most popular drivers in the Sprint Cup garage, but nobody can say that has no talent. Montoya and Truex Jr are able to win a race in 2009 with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing team. In fact, the organization is virtually dependent on it. Aric Almirola is expected to compete in all thirty-six races in 2009 in the No. 8 car. Stewart Haas Racing: Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman significant improvements Johnny Sauter and Scott Riggs, but How do they compare with the big four? Stewart Haas Racing will use engines and chassis supplied by Hendrick Motorsports, Hendrick Motorsports but, at least not yet. In time, this team can only flourish with Stewart and Newman as the drivers. Stewart is a two-time champion and a champion for Newman Daytona 500 does not lack credentials. Stewart and Newman to win a race in 2009 not far-fetched, especially in the flange plate tracks and road courses. It would be a surprise if they are fast enough to fight in the tracks of 1.5 miles and 2 miles.

Richard Petty Motorsports: As Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, Richard Petty Motorsports is fresh from a merger and name change. Previously Gillett Evernham Motorsports and Petty Enterprises, now a team with four riders. Kasey Kahne is the star, the driver likely to produce the best results. Elliott Sadler is a veteran who has struggled in recent years, but hopes to turn the corner. AJ Allmendinger Reed Sorenson and hunger Young drivers want to win a trip to victory. Kahne provides the only real threat to the big four. Allmendinger may come as a pleasant surprise if you have the opportunity compete in the full program of races. Penske Racing: Kurt Busch is the only driver of Penske Racing, garage three that can really put threaten the big four. Busch qualified for the Chase for the championship in 2007 after winning two races. Ryan Newman won thirteen races in the Team Penske Racing but after three seasons of the art sub bolts. David Stremme to replace Newman, but the feeling that conformed with his Penske test driver. Sam Hornish Jr is comparable that of Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson when he is driving in the Indy Racing League, but their results in NASCAR Racing have been really horrible. Hornish may begin to show signs of potential in 2009.

Yates Racing Yates Racing has made some bold moves during the offseason. After forming an alliance with Hall of Fame Racing, which were able to use the sponsorship to attract 2000 champion Ask.com Bobby Labonte to your neck of the woods. Labonte joins Paul Menard and Travis Kvapil. Menard and his sponsor, Menard, Dale Earnhardt Inc. fled, he joined Yates Racing, which means the team has two cars fully sponsored. Travis Kvapil can not compete in all races unless sponsorship is found. Labonte can fight on the track restriction plate, and possibly the short tracks. Menard still has much to prove at the highest level of NASCAR competition. Red Bull Racing: Red Bull Racing has a pair of young pilots who will put everything on the line. Brian Vickers has a Sprint Cup victory and had shown considerable progress in his two years at Red Bull Racing. Scott Speed is a rookie, and may take a few race cars beaten before they fully catch this NASCAR Racing thing. Michael Waltrip Racing: David Reutimann Michael Waltrip Racing, the main promoter based on its findings to the season 2008. He finished the season on a high note with strong performances in Texas and Homestead. Michael Waltrip has not yet shown any signs of struggle in their own team. Marcos Ambrose be a contestant on the road course tracks, but may have difficulties in the ovals.
