Nordic Track elliptical machines do not help you lose weight?

I've been doing the 20 minutes before workouts with the team for about a week. Every minute the resistance changes and you need to keep "pace." is a series of lights to let you know if they are doing. screen i says burn about 290 calories and 60 carbohydrates a workout.
