How to Hang a chandelier (weight-bearing question)?
I bought a new place and had two sets of track lights in a hallway Abovian and dining. I replaced the hall with a lamp from Ikea (simple). i dining room track lighting desires replaced with a chandelier that we have. It is not very large, weighs 10 pounds ~ 6 -. I guess the track lighting also has a plastic box like the one it replaces. I'm also assuming that the box will not support the spider (or right?). I will need added support? recommendations for a non-electricity? Moreover, unlike Ikea lamp (which had black and white wires), the spider has two silver threads. I do simply connect to see what works? thanks
if you have access to the attic above the lamp is a good idea to cover the space with a truss support for any large hanging lights. the current frame will be mounted to the structure of members, but it is easy installing additional support why not. and no matter which lead is hot or neutral in a light fixture. simply complete the circuit. connect any cables the white or black. the lights are not polarized.
